Memorial Day Parade:May is the true beginning of spring when local residents start thinking about getting their boats ready for the up coming season. Flowers are being planted, summer residences opened for the season and the annual Memorial Day Parade is planned. Each year the Town of Long Lake recognizes the sacrifices of the veterans who have lived in Long Lake with a parade, a ceremony for those who died at sea and a ceremony at the cemetery. The parade ends at the Viet Nam Memorial with the laying of a wreath.
As the water warms up canoers start enjoying one of the many lakes for early season paddling.

Birding Festival:Hamilton County Tourism and Aububon NY are pleased to present the 7th Annual Birding Festival in Hamilton County June 10th – 12th. Bird watching is a celebrated Adirondack experience. In the Adirondack Wild, it is marked by the Adirondack Birding Festival, held annually the third weekend of June. Nesting season comes late in our mountains because of the altitude and latitude.
Among the rare boreal birds found here are Bicknell’s thrush, spruce grouse, American three-toed woodpeckers and many kinds of raptors and water birds. For a rewarding experience, book a bird-watching trip with a licensed guide.
