Shonen Knife in Concert:
Saturday, July 28, 2012 – Mt. Sabattis Pavilion. $15 Doors Open at 5pm.
Shonen Knife have been the most internationally recognized name in Japanese Rock music since their entrance onto the alternative rock scene in the early 90s seeing them become the indie darlings of hipsters and rock stars alike. 2011 celebrates thirty years since Naoko and the band began releasing albums of their joyous mixture of pop, punk, food and fantasy for the world to enjoy. Since their inception in Osaka in 1981 (featuring Naoko’s sister Atsuko and their friend, bassist/vocalist Michie) to their current lineup featuring members Ritsuko (b,v) and Emi (dr,v), SK have maintained their rightful place in the ever changing indie rock scene.
General Admission $15. Kids under 12 are free. Picnics and lawn chairs welcome. Limited seating available.
This project is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts, administered by the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts.

We’re the U.S. Water Ski Show Team−an all-volunteer, non-profit, family oriented organization. Our goal is to leverage the diverse talents of our membership to produce and perform the highest caliber water ski shows available anywhere in the Northeast.
The team has delighted tens of thousands of spectators over it’s proud 40 year history: but we’re not resting on past achievements, we’re focused squarely on the future. Training and development programs, learn-to-ski sessions and community involvement are all core to our team values.
So if you’re just looking for a great way to spend an enjoyable evening with family and friends, or you’d like to be part of the action, you’ve come to the right place. Just take a minute to explore the site and by all means “enjoy the show!”

Long Lake Annual Antiques & Vintage Show:
Long Lake marks the 27th Anniversary with a two day show running from Friday, July 6th – Saturday, July 7th, 2012 at the Long Lake Central School, located off Route 30 in Long Lake. Show hours are Friday and Saturday, 10am – 5pm and Admission is a bargain at $1.00.
Antique treasures range from period furniture, country “smalls,” silver, glass , china, mission furniture, rustic accessories, prints, paintings, postcards and collectibles and taxidermy.
New for 2012 – Vintage Vendors featuring Mid-Century Modern Items. We’re reaching out to include more recent history to add to the eclectic selection available. It’s not the fastest that wins it’s the closest time and Winner takes the purse! It’s a scavenger hunt meets the ministry of silly walks meets It’s a Mad Mad Mad World.
Unearth the secrets of Long Lake and make some new memories!
Rules: Driver & Navigator. Fit as many as you can into your car. Make sure there are at least two of you so someone can drive. Follow a list of instructions like a treasure hunt and try to get as close to the “professionally” tested time as possible.

Bass Fishing Derby:
Both Raquette Lake and Long Lake Fish and Game Clubs hold Bass Fishing Derbies in the summer months for substantial cash prizes. Register early to secure your place as contestants are limited. Winners for total weight of five fish. 1 lb. penalty for each dead fish. Deduction of 1lb per minute/penalty for late return. Prize money, lunker pool and live well inspection.
Raquette Lake Derby, July 21, 2012 $110 per boat
Long Lake Derby, August 11th, 2012 $85 per boat

Youth Center:
Kids enjoy the Youth Center open Tuesday – Thursday evenings at 7pm at the Mt. Sabattis Recreation Area. Open to kids ages 9 – 16. Wii is available, basketball courts, tennis, games. Plenty of tennis rackets, basketballs, a foosball table, arts and crafts. Sign in is required. A safe place for the kids to go monitored by Parks and Recreation staff. Volunteers welcome to donate time to sponsor a fun program including pick up basketball games, charades, music night, arts and crafts.

Northern Needles 2012 Quilt Show:
The 2012 Northern Needles Quilt and Needlework Show will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 3, 4 and 5, at the Long Lake Town Hall. Hours are 10 AM – 6 PM on Friday and Saturday, and 12 – 4 PM on Sunday. The show is free and open to the public. Northern Needles members enjoy working in many textile media, including traditional quilting, art and landscape quilting, knitting, crocheting, felted wool, rug hooking, embroidery, cross-stitching, needlepoint, and much more.
The show promises a wide variety of work, from wall hangings, bed-sized quilts, garments, and everything in between. Members’ creativity and love of community is apparent in every item exhibited.
