There is a lot of action in Long Lake, NY and Raquette Lake, NY this week and here is your primer for the week so you don’t miss out on anything.
 
Monday, August 5th
6pm, Monday Night Soccer on the Ball Field. Ages 7th grade students and up.  Free! With Coach Jim Piraino.  Part of Long Lake’s Parks & Recreation Youth Programming.
 
Wednesday, August 7th
10am Zoomobile Raquette Lake at the Library and
Noon at Mt. Sabattis Pavilion at 6 Pavilion Way in Long Lake NY.

 
1pm at the Mt. Sabattis Pavilion, Kids Art Class, $5 per child
 
7pm 10th Mountain Division Brass Ensemble.  Mt. Sabattis Pavilion. Free.

The 10th Mountain Division Band Brass Ensemble is a 9 member band which performs a variety of music. As the Army has transformed to meet the complexities of modern warfare, so too Army Music has evolved and adopted to meet their musical mission.

Picnic table seating available. Guests welcome to bring lawn chairs. Please bring flashlights as it gets dark earlier and there is no ambient lighting in the parking area. 
 
Thursday, August 8th
10a.m.-2p.m. The Long Lake Farmers Market is every Thursday located at the Mt. Sabattis Lower Parking Lot on South Hill Road across from the Post Office. Look for fresh veggies, pies, ice cream, Otter Creek Wines, rustic furniture, jewelry and more!
 
 
7:00 pm The Tailor Made Band. Raquette Lake Village Green. Free!


Opening for industry legends such as Charlie Daniels, Lady Antebellum, Kellie Pickler and Josh Thompson to name a few, this high energy band is also the official band of radio station show, “The Wake Up Q” with Chris Allinger.

7:30pm. Denise and Moe Helms in Concert.  United Methodist Church, Long Lake, NY. Free.

Denise and Moe are both accomplished musicians with experience ranging from quartets up to full band ensemble’s and musical productions. While each can play multiple instruments they specialize in French Horn (Denise), and Piano (Moe). Hailing from Long Lake originally, they both reside in Vestal, NY now. Following the performance, a reception will be held to meet the artists. Donations are appreciated at each event to help defray the cost of this series.
 
Friday, August 9
6pm Bad Chaperones on the Long Lake Town Beach, Music by the Lake. Free.


It’s always a fun night on the beach with classic songs, danceable riffs, and something for everyone with the Bad Chaperones! Join us for a fun night at the beach. Free concert, extended beach hours for the kids and food too! When asked who their inspiration and greatest influences are…. “cow bell, post-it notes, clip boards”  This concert is free and part of the Town of Long Lake, Parks, Recreation & Tourism Music by the Lake Series.

Raquette Lake’s Busiest Day!
10am Juried Craft Fair– Raquette Lake School

The Raquette Lake Parents Teachers and Friends will sponsor the 29th annual Arts and Crafts Fair at the Raquette Lake School on Rt. 28 on Saturday, August 10th, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. This is a juried show with all items being displayed for sale the work of the exhibitor on site, the majority of whom reside in the Adirondack Park.

Adirondack artists exhibiting include Fawn Ridge Pottery of Chestertown and South Bay Jewelry of Raquette Lake. Lis Barsuglia-Madsen is back with her hand woven clothing, rugs and accessories.  Other exhibitors include David “R.C.” Oster’s pen and ink drawings of historic buildings and Adirondack scenes. Toni Rudd will be selling her delicious homemade jams and jellies and Carol Milliman-Estes will be selling the famous Milliman homemade fudge.  Kent Menges will be displaying his wrought iron work ‘Adironstix’.  Nancy Pulling Best with her children’s books photographer Joe Wild of “Wild Ways Photography” will be exhibiting this year.
