Business Supporters Long Lake and Raquette Lake

Business Sponsors and Contributors

Long Lake and Raquette Lake have a robust business community that works together and collaborates with the Long Lake Parks and Recreation Department year-round. With events being the cornerstone of the Parks and Recreation Department, we couldn’t pull off all we do without the volunteers and commitment of our business community. Our businesses are famous for donating time, materials and helping co-sponsor events,  art installations, planting flowers, keeping our community beautiful and our businesses showcase our community pride and strong Adirondack spirit. There are ample opportunities to promote and support the variety of programs within our towns.  If you don’t know our businesses and volunteers, you should!

Please support our local business sponsors. They keep our community ticking! Their support is vital and if you see us mentioning them in social media and on our website, you can be assured they are part of our ongoing community building that continues to grow as we see new businesses open and grow even throughout the very economically challenging pandemic. We thank our businesses for their support despite the hardships and obstacles so many faced.

If you are a local business owner or volunteer and want to get involved, don’t be shy! We’d love to have you!  Please email longlake@mylonglake.com to receive information on our advertising programs, social media promotions, sponsorships, events news and more.

Music on Mt. Sabattis 2021

On Sunday, August 22, 2021 join local musicians Jamie Sutliff, Barry Gregson and Sue Grimm as the Cold River Revue

headlines a fundraiser showcase for the Sabattis Mountain Bike Trail project slated for construction in 2021. The music kicks off from 2pm – 5pm and guests are encouraged to bring their own food and drink and lawn chairs.  This show will happen rain or shine!

The Cold River Revue trio featuring Jaime Sutliff, Barry Gregson and Sue Grimm have been  playing music together throughout the Adirondacks for over 40 years. The set list will include folk, rock, blues and a few Irish jigs and reels and some Celtic dance. Enjoy original compositions featuring guitar, blues harp, hammer dulcimer and penny-whistle. There will be seven original songs including favorites Long Lake Waters and Blue Mountain Waltz.

Other artists performing will be recording artists Paul Roalsvig, locally known as Yod Crewsy, along with John Weyl.  John and Yod will be playing as a duo and have recently performed at P2’s in Tupper Lake, and the Adirondack Hotel as well as other area jam sessions. John and Yod play a collection of blues, rock and garage power pop.  Yods most recent 2-CD release ‘The Longings Of Paul Roalsvig’ will be available at the show.  John has recorded and released several albums with his band, Deep Blue and John has a deep passion for the blues and it shines through in this set.

Mike Nerney joins the Sabattis stage having performed for years in the Long Lake Open Mike scene, at the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts and most recently with his grandson Harrison Hall for ALCA-Seltzer Short series a fundraiser for the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts.  Mike recently released a new CD entitled,  “The Train to Anywhere” and it is now available at CD Baby and at the show.

Sabattis Mountain Bike Trail construction will get underway this fall under the guidance of Steve Ovitt of Wilderness Property Management who is known locally for building Gurney Lane, Inlet Mountain Bike Trails at Fern Park and Mountain Bike Trails in North Creek. Phase one will see a build out of 2K of trails. Two loops, one rated “easy” and a second, intermediate trail will be stacked out from the trailhead up and down the mountainside. These trails will utilize the convenience of parking and restrooms of the Pavilion as a staging area and anchor for the trailhead.

Sustainable trail design will be the priority design for the trails, with ample drainage to ensure a long-term life for the trails. Riding features such as rollers and rock ride overs will be incorporated into the trail as will ride-arounds.  The proximity of Mt. Sabattis to the community makes it an ideal location for riders to enjoy the great outdoors and the local amenities when they are done riding.

Funds raised at this event will help purchase materials for bridges and signage.  Look for phase one of the trails to be ready to ride before the snow flies.

West End Performs for Music By the Lake 2021

On Friday August 6th, 2021, West End Blend will be performing from 6pm-9pm at the Town Beach.

Since their conception, CT-based Funk/Soul band West End Blend has been playing their version of Funk and Soul in venues all over the Northeast and beyond.

Fronted by vocalist Erica T. Bryan, the band pays homage to classic throwback sounds while adding their own distinct vibe and flair.  Behind her, the Blend packs two guitars, a two-piece horn section, bass, keyboards and drums onto stages every night. From humble beginnings in an epic and sweaty basement dance party, The Blend’s goal has always been to bring that same atmosphere to their shows ever since.

Coolers and lawn chairs welcome.

This project is made possible with the funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts.
