On Thursday, July 27th we are honored to once again welcome author, storyteller, and Nulhegan Abenaki Elder Joseph Bruchac and his son, author, storyteller and Abenaki language teacher Jesse Bruchac to perform Native stories and songs. Native nations of the Adirondack Region, the Aln8bak (Abenaki) and the Kaien’keha:ka (Mohawk) people will share an evening of traditional stories and music, with drum and flute. Thirty years ago, Joe was one of the first performers in St. William’s Church, when we were first getting started.
Public transportation from the town dock to St. William’s thanks to Raquette Lake Camps for supplying the barge, and to Mike Bartow, who will be our captain. Be at the dock by 5:45, as it is first come, first serve. The boat will leave at 6:00. The concerts will start at 6:30 and last for about an hour. Remember we will have more pies to raffle! Rain location will be at Raquette Lake School. We are excited to welcome this line up of artists to share their gifts with us.
These programs are made possible, in part, with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program of the New York State Council on the Arts with support of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts.
