As a member of Unit Band 146 out of Norfolk, VA, Joey served as an American Ambassador of Good Will performing concerts across Europe and the eastern United States. After his military service, Joey continued performing on the road with many Top 40 bands, one of which performed shows with Dick Clark’s Cavalcade of Stars in the late 60’s. After a decade on the road, Joey settled in New York’s Capital Region satisfying his love of music and maintaining his chops by playing with a number of Top 40 and party bands including The Kings Four and Morgan BLVD.

A part of the New York’s Capital Region professional music scene since 1972, Bob plays the three tier theater organ, piano, and trumpet. For many years he accompanied himself using keyboards, midi pedals, a drum machine and sound system. He is thrilled to be the featured male vocalist with The Joey Thomas Big Band .

Bob’ Father’s introduction to Joey Thomas was through his son George, then a member of The Joey Thomas Big Band trombone section. In 2000, Joey needed a vocalist to fill in for a gig, and thus their musical collaboration began. Bob has performed with The Joey Thomas Big Band throughout New York State in a variety of venues and for special events in New England, Ohio, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and at Sealand in Florida.

Growing up in a musical family, Bob’s music life began at home. This exposed him to the great singers and songs of earlier generations and pop music of the day while fostering his love of music. He spent many of his early years playing the organ and directing his church choir. Bob’s first professional gig was at the age of 14 at Dante’s Steak House in East Greenbush.

Bob honed his skills working in many Capital Region clubs and has performed at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, Proctor’s Theatre, Saratoga Performing Arts Center, the Egg in Albany, as well as the Spa Little Theatre and Saratoga Music Hall. He has also has sung with the Bud Bryer Big Band and the Yankee Doodle Band.

Bob is a graduate of Albany High School and Bryant & Stratton College in Albany, NY.
