Market Basket Class

Learn the basics of basket making or refine your weaving skills at this one day class. The market style basket has a variety of uses; it is handy for storing kindling wood, blankets or towels, and can also be used outside to gather flowers or vegetables. The base is 10” by 15” and finished dimensions of the basket are 21” wide by 14” high by 10” across. No prior basket making experience is necessary. All tools and materials are provided by the instructor, and students will select colors to create their own unique basket. Cost of the class, including all materials, is $65 per student.

The class will be held on Sunday February 14, 2016 from 9am-4pm at the Long Lake Town Hall.

Born and raised in Long Lake, Shea Farrell Carr has been making baskets since 1992. She took ownership of Adirondack Basket Case from her mother, Patty Farrell, in 2009. In addition to basket making, she is also a high school history teacher, and lives in Slingerlands with her husband and two young children.

Long Lake Hosts Basket Workshop and Quilt Camp

The Town of Long Lake is excited to announce Shea Farrell Carr is returning to the Long Lake Town Hall on Monday, February 20th (President’s Day) to teach the Wine Basket Class from 9am – 4pm.

Learn the basics of basket making or refine your weaving skills at this one day class. The basket holds two bottles of wine, or can be used in the bathroom to store rolls of toilet paper or rolled up towels. Students will select colors to create their own unique basket. The base is 5” by 11” and finished dimensions of the basket are 15” wide by 14” tall by 5” across. No prior basket making experience is necessary, and all tools and materials will be provided by the instructor. The class will be held at the Long Lake Town Hall from 9am to 4pm on Monday, February 20, 2012. Cost, including all materials, is $60 per student. Please call (518) 624-3077 to sign up.

Hearth Basket Making Class

The Town of Long Lake Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce a Hearth Basket Class slated for Saturday, February 5, 2011 at the Long Lake Town Hall located at 1204 Main Street/Route 30 in Long Lake, NY. The class will be held from 9am to 4pm.

The class is taught by Long Lake native, Shea Farrell Carr, who took over the reins of Adirondack Basket Case from her mother, Patty Farrell, in 2009.

Shea will teach the basics of basket making and help students refine their weaving skills at this one day class. The hearth style basket is meant to hold newspapers and kindling, but can be used to store a variety of items, such as blankets and towels. Students will select colors to create their own unique basket. The base is 10” by 18” and finished dimensions of the basket are 20” wide by 14” high by 10” across.
