The Town of Long Lake Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department announces the winners of the 2020 Long Lake Photo Contest held between August 24th and September 30th.  The contest was open to any style of photograph including landscapes, wildlife, and candids.  Pictures were required to be taken at specific locations in Long Lake and Raquette Lake.  In Long Lake the three locations were the Mt. Sabattis Recreation Area, Cedarlands Easement Area, and Fishing Brook Access.  In Raquette Lake the two locations were Brown’s Tract and Golden Beach.
 
Over 170 photographs were submitted, and after much deliberation three winners were selected for each town.  The first place photos will be put on display for the year.  The finalists are as follows:
 
First place in Long Lake went to Anthony Miller for his wildlife photo of spider webs on a log in the Cedarlands Easement Area.  Runners up for Long Lake were Dominick Chiuchiolo for his photo of Fishing Brook Access, and Shane Holmes for his photo from the top of Mud Pond Mountain in the Cedarlands Easement. 
 
First place in Raquette Lake went to Michelle Hicks for her night shot from Golden Beach, followed by runners up Erin Porter for her photo, also from Golden Beach, and Sandra Bolos for her shot from Brown’s Tract.

Photo Contest Announced

Calling all photographers, the Town of Long Lake Parks & Recreation Department is announcing a photo contest in and around the Long Lake and Raquette Lake area. This contest will be a little different than others, there will be three recreational areas in Long Lake and two in Raquette Lake that THE PICTURES MUST BE TAKEN IN.

In Long Lake the three locations will be, Mt Sabattis Recreation Area, Fishing Brook Access, and the Cedarlands Easement area. In Raquette Lake the two areas are Golden Beach and Brown’s Tract. For your photo to be considered it must have been taken in one of the three areas, but, you will be allowed to submit older photos, as long as they were taken in one of the designated locations. The submission window will be open from now until September 30th, and the grand prize for each community will be having your photo framed and displayed in the community for one year.

2016 Photo Contest Winners Announced

The Town of Long Lake Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department announces the winners of the 2016 Long Lake Spring Photo Contest. Volunteer judges for the competition were Rick Godin, Robert Keough and Steph Hample. Forty-two photographers submitted 98 images in the Wildlife, Landscape, People at Play and Our Town categories. Photos had to be taken in either Raquette Lake or Long Lake and could be taken at any season of the year.

Photo Contest ADKS Announced

The Town of Long Lake Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department announces the 2016 Photography Contest. Amateur photographers are invited to submit a maximum of three entries for the competition. Submissions should be photos from within Long Lake and Raquette Lake.

Prizes will be awarded for categories including: Our Town, People at Play, Best Landscape, Best Wildlife and overall Best in Show. Only digital entries will be accepted. Entries must be submitted in jpeg format to longlakephotocontest@gmail.com by April 21st at 5pm with name, address, phone, email, category, location where photo was taken and title, if any and category. Photos can only be submitted as an email attachment and should not exceed 10MB. Maximum of three entries per person. The awards will be announced Friday, May 20th.

In 2013 the Town of Long Lake sponsored a competition and forty-two photographers submitted 106 images. In 2013 the Winners were Carolynn McCann of Old Forge, George Cigale of Long Lake and Christopher Dunn of New Windsor NY.
