Interview with HEY JUDE’s band member, Tom Raider

How long has Hey Jude been performing?

Hey Jude The Tribute Plays Long Lake on March 7th

Hey Jude The Tribute Plays Long Lake on March 7th

The Capital Region’s renowned look-alike, sound-alike BEATLES Tribute band, HEY JUDE, has been performing for approximately two and a half successful years. Our FAB band members include myself, Tom Raider, as John Lennon, Brad Jarvis as Paul McCartney, Rick Bedrosian as George Harrison, Don Ackerman as Ringo Starr, and the fifth Beatle—keyboardist, Rich Coogan. Brad Jarvis and I had been performing as “Imagining Lennon & McCartney” previous to the formation of HEY JUDE. In addition to HEY JUDE, I also perform annually, as John Lennon, at the Vigil for International Peace and Ecology at Central Park, NYC.

HEY JUDE has performed all over Upstate New York entertaining fans of all ages with an authentic Beatles tribute experience. We have played at The Guilderland Performing Arts Center; Shuttleworth Park in Amsterdam for a Beatles Tribute “Shea Stadium Experience” Concert; The Historic Broadalbin Hotel in Broadalbin for a 2014 New Year’s Eve Concert; headlined The 2014 Buck Moon Arts Festival at Fulton-Montgomery Community College in Johnstown; headlined First Night Saratoga 2013 for New Year’s Eve; and many more. We regularly perform in Albany, Saratoga, Fulton, and Montgomery Counties.

Have they ever played in the Adirondacks before?

Yes, we have performed for the Commemoration of The Battle Of Plattsburgh at the newly renovated Strand Theatre in 2013 and The Giltz Auditorium at SUNY Plattsburgh in 2014. Speaking of the Adirondacks…we look forward to our appearance in Long Lake on Saturday, March 7, 2015. Our show will be full of FAB BEATLES tunes, authentic costume changes, and witty British stage banter. We’re very excited to meet-and-greet with all of our fans! Our Press Agent, Lisa Gandia, will be present to take FREE photos of fans with our band members “John,” “Paul,” “George,” and “Ringo.” Fan photos may be displayed on our website photo gallery on www.HeyJudeTheTribute.com. We will also have shirts and hats available for purchase, and you can even get your HEY JUDE memorabilia signed!

What era of the Beatles is their favorite?

We are fans of the Beatles’ entire musical spectrum. We appreciate all eras—and all albums. From the early Sullivan years to the famous Abbey Road, we admire The Beatles’ musical versatility. Each album they produced reflects their creative energy and innovative style. Our concerts replicate the unique look and sound of The Beatles’ from our authentic costumes, mop top haircuts, and imported from Liverpool boots—to our Rickenbacker, Gretsch, Hofner, and Epiphone guitars, Vox amps and Ludwig drums—we enjoy perfecting every detail of our show.

What’s the coolest venue/show they have ever played – or most meaningful?

We were honored to perform for The Commemoration of The Battle of Plattsburgh for the last two years. The huge crowd was so enthusiastic and welcoming! Both the historic, newly renovated Strand Theater and The Giltz Auditorium were incredible, memorable venues.

What do they think about the music scene today?

Today’s generation is very fortunate to have such a diverse music scene. From rap, rock, and hip-hop, to jazz, blues and country, the music varieties are endless. The internet, cable, Sirius radio etc. offer a wide variety of music that was not readily available to previous generations. The music industry has progressively changed for the better. Now music is instantly accessible through downloading online as well as other digital developments. On the other hand, I’m glad that vinyl records have been making quite the comeback, since there isn’t much artwork to view or hold in your hands, as well as liner notes, with an Mp3!
