Long Lake Association Announces Events and Activities 2016

The Long Lake Association (LLA) of Long Lake, NY was established over 30 years ago. The mission is to preserve and enhance the health and beauty of the lake and to promote its wise use for the benefit and enjoyment of present and future generations. All Long Lake residents, full-time and seasonal, are members of the LLA. The Association is always encouraging members to volunteer and participate in events. LLA Board Members participate in regional and state-wide committees to ensure that all the water bodies in the Town of Long Lake are well represented. In addition, LLA provides volunteers to support many of the Town and Regional activities. For more information and contacts, check out our website at www.longlakeassociation.org

For the past nine years, the Long Lake Association has partnered with Paul Smith’s College to sponsor Lake Stewards at the Long Lake NYS DEC boat launch from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The Lake Stewards provide education on invasive species prevention and conduct boat inspections. This has been made possible through LLA fundraising, NYS grants, and currently through an EPA grant to the Paul Smith’s Watershed Institute. This year, through additional grant funding obtained through the efforts of the LLA and sponsorship from the Town of Long Lake, there will be Lake Stewards at Lake Eaton and Forked Lake. For the other bodies of water in Long Lake, the LLA will be posting information about invasive species prevention at popular launch sites.
