The Lifeguard Bear made an appearance on the Long Lake Town Dock on Sunday, August 9th. At first on-lookers thought it was a real bear, but upon closer inspection, it was deemed, it was merely a stuffed, somewhat mangy, bear.
Having culled the local police reports for signs that this bear had been illegally absconded with, and finding none, it was deemed that the bear may stay on the beach guarding the waters for the rest of the day. When asked if it was Red Cross Certified, Class 2B lake trained, the guards did mention the bear did have some required testing left to pass, including First Aid and CPR.
One of the lifeguards not on duty Sunday had a surprise when opening the lifeguard shed Monday morning only to discover a pair of beady, glass bear eyes staring her down. She jumped, she gasped, and realized quickly, it was stuffed.
Only in Long Lake.
