Great Camp Sagamore

Great Camp Sagamore

Great Camp Sagamore is an extraordinary, historic icon of  American Adirondack style – where celebrities, politicians and world leaders have gathered to dream big, connect with others and allow ideas to take root. And this still happens today.

We are a National Historic Landmark celebrating the work of architect/developer, William West Durant. A wilderness estate that is the prototype of Adirondack style; Sagamore was the Adirondack home of the Vanderbilt family (1901-1954) and staff–a rustic community that was famous for parties, people, celebrities and visiting world leaders.

Join us for a tour, a program, a class or stay the night to experience nature, our dark night skies, quiet waters, and friendship with others who have come to soak in all things Sagamore.

Great Camp Sagamore is an iconic great camp—not a hotel, motel, or resort. Expect instead, a complete experience in learning and living a “bit of history” in an incomparable setting. Great Camp Sagamore guests come for programs, not specific rooms. Expect that we will meet as many requests as possible, but can never make housing guarantees. Sagamore is able to offer you the rare privilege of staying in and learning at a National Historic Landmark. Expect a one-of-a kind experience.
