Summer Calendar


Best time of the year. Its the time that we wait for.  The time that we pine for.  The time that makes everything majestic.  Blue skies, lush greenery, warm lakes and rivers.  Activities galore.  Summer is simply a magical time to experience Long Lake & Raquette Lake.    It is a time for tradition. Like our 4th of July festivities celebrating our freedom. Summer is also a time to revel in the calming nature of the forest and trees.  Want more action? 4th of July Games:
Everyone’s most favorite event. What don’t we do on 4th of July? Kids Games, Prizes for everyone and ice cream cones too. Egg Toss, Hula Hoop, Sack Races, Scavenger Hunt. It’s tradition and small town. Quaint and charming. The games begin at 10am still at the Long Lake ball field. The Long Lake Fire Department serves up traditional feast of Sausage and Peppers on the beach starting mid-afternoon.   Live Music on the LL Town Beach at 6:30pm. Fireworks at dusk.

US Waterski Team Show and Exhibition:
Always the 3rd Saturday in July!

If you’re looking for something completely different, you just found it. Welcome to the exciting world of Show Skiing.

We’re the U.S. Water Ski Show Team−an all-volunteer, non-profit, family oriented organization. Our goal is to leverage the diverse talents of our membership to produce and perform the highest caliber water ski shows available anywhere in the Northeast.

The team has delighted tens of thousands of spectators over it’s proud 40 year history: but we’re not resting on past achievements, we’re focused squarely on the future. Training and development programs, learn-to-ski sessions and community involvement are all core to our team values.

So if you’re just looking for a great way to spend an enjoyable evening with family and friends, or you’d like to be part of the action, you’ve come to the right place. Just take a minute to explore the site and by all means “enjoy the show!”

Long Lake Paddling Olympics:
Friday, July 28, 2017. It’s fun, it’s cool and kooky! Boat races for all ages. Try your hand at wild, wet, fun aquatic navigational competition. Registration is free. Look for zany races including Bang and Go Back, Standing Paddling, Hand Paddling, Dress up Relay, Kayak Races, The Dipper, Back Paddling, Hurry Scurry and many more! Boats and Lifejackets provided. The Long Lake Lions Club sells a great BBQ and the lifeguards are on duty if you want to swim. Sponsored by the LL Association. Free registration 10:30am. Races start at 11am.

Heart of the Park Craft Fair:
Sunday, August 6. All American handcrafted items sold by over 50 crafters. $1.00 Admission. Penelope the Clown. Crafts ranging from T-shirts, homemade fudge, spices, handmade sweaters, pottery, photography, wind chimes, and gifts for the whole family. Get your holiday shopping done in Long Lake.

Author’s Night at Hoss’s Country Corner:
Always the second Tuesday in August at Hoss’s Country Corner. Adirondack Author’s converge under the big red tent to sign autography, showcase their work. Meet the Author’s.  Purchase your favorite books, get your souvenir shopping in with a personalized writer’s touch. The wide range of authors include fiction, comedy, Adirondack Lore and history, maps, paddling, hiking.  You name it, these author’s have lived it.  Meet them and find out what inspired them to put pen to paper.  

Enjoy live music and treats. A truly important event in Long Lake celebrating our authors. Come one come all.

Raquette Lake Busiest Weekend:
10 a.m., Raquette Lake’s Busiest Day will be held at locations throughout Raquette Lake. Come to Raquette Lake for a fun and busy day! Craft fair at 10am at the Raquette Lake Union Free School, Annual Book Sale starting at 10am at the library and annual fire department and ambulance squad auction at 6pm.

Art & Photo Show:

The Friends of the Long Lake Library is once again sponsoring the Long Lake Art Show and Sale at the Long Lake Town Hall, Thursday, July 6, through Sunday, July 9. The show features regional artists in different mediums including watercolor, acrylic, oil paintings, photography, glass works, multi-media, fiber arts, wood sculptures and more. Purchase of an original work of art, benefits not only the artist but also the Friends in its efforts to support library events and acquaint the community with the library’s resources and services.
