Best time of the year. Its the time that we wait for.  The time that we pine for.  The time that makes everything majestic.  Blue skies, lush greenery, warm lakes and rivers.  Activities galore.  Summer is simply a magical time to experience Long Lake & Raquette Lake.    It is a time for tradition. Like our 4th of July festivities celebrating our freedom. Summer is also a time to revel in the calming nature of the forest and trees.  Want more action? Events galore pack our schedule.  Recreation, hiking, biking, climbing, birding, swimming, boating.  Make Long Lake & Raquette Lake your family’s summer camp!

4th of July 2022:

Long Lake Activities

10am. The Annual 4th of July Games will begin on the Town Ball Field, Sponsored by the Town of Long Lake. Games for all ages! Classic favorites include small children scavenger hunt, balloon race, sack races, the venerable egg toss, and three-legged race. Children enjoy collecting their winnings from our exclusive prize booth.

Mid-Afternoon. Time to be announced! Long Lake Fire Department BBQ RETURNS in 2022. Location at the Long Lake Town Beach. Benefit for the Long Lake Fire Department.  Serving sausage and peppers, burgers, dogs, sodas and more! 

6:30 p.m. the Annual 4th of July Celebration will begin at the Town Beach. Sponsored by the Town of Long Lake. Live music by Grit and Grace  will be performed at the Town Beach.

In Raquette Lake visitors, families, guests are invited to the shores or from your boat to enjoy a spectacular fireworks show from “The Barge.”  Find your favorite spot and enjoy the show and the magic that is Raquette Lake!

Join the Raquette Lake Mudsliders Softball Team at 2 p.m. – 6 p.m., at the Raquette Lake Village Green for a fundraiser with live music with Matt Grainger. Vendors will be on site including: Mary Blanchard’s South Bay Jewelry, RC (David) Oster Painting, Pampered Chef, Life in the ADK, Pat Deyle’s Hand Carving, Local Artisan’s and the Knitting Ladies!  All vendors to change without notice** This is a partial list of previous years vendors.

In addition to the live music, enjoy baked goods, a Raffle and a 50/50 to support the Raquette Lake Mudsliders Softball Team. More to be announced.

Trivia Nights | Wednesday | July 13th & August 10th | 7pm

Match your wits against the Trivia Tsar.  Gather your team. Are you a history buff, entertainment aficionado or are you able to retain sports stats like no other?  Gather your eclectic group of hive minds to join in the fun.  Winners receive… a Home-made baked item and bragging rights, which is totally a thing here in Long Lake!

Founded in 2011, the Hohenfels Trombone Quartet is based in Rochester, NY and has performed extensively throughout the Northeastern US.  In 2014 they toured Germany and Austria as cultural ambassadors to Würzburg, featuring collaborations with organists and composers at the St. Kilian Cathedrals of Würzburg and Schweinfurt. They recently concluded a concert tour in New York State with guest performances in churches across the Adirondack Region. They are featured prominently on Sound & Resound (2020), an album produced by Lisa Albrecht and Amanda R. Mole, showcasing solo and ensemble works for trombone and organ. HTQ also presents recitals and master classes at colleges and public schools, enriching young performers with their versatile presentations.

Road Rally driving competition.

Road Rally, Mt. Sabattis Geiger Arena
Wednesday, July 20, 2022 7pm | $5 per car

Teams and cars drive around Long Lake following a special set of cryptic instructions.  Whichever teams returns to homebase the closest to the official time without going over… wins!  Cash prizes.  

Past events have included – Singing to a stuffed bear, singing in Hoss’s, playing leapfrog on the Long Lake Town Beach and discovering mysterious secrets of Long Lake.

Paddling Olympics
July 22, 2022 10:30am

Sponsored by The Long Lake Association and the Town of Long Lake. Try your hand at wild, wet, fun aquatic navigational competition. Registration is free and starts at 10:30am.  Look for zany races including Bang and Go Back, Stand Up Paddle Boarding, Hand Paddling, Dress up Relay, Kayak Races, The Dipper, Back Paddling, Hurry Scurry and many more!  All ages are welcome to participate!  The Lions Club serves up a BBQ lunch. Presenting: Two short plays

Written and directed by Gail Huntley

A night of historical entertainment including two performances based on the original settlers of Long Lake, NY in the 1800s with musical entertainment by local musicians. A Walk on the Wild Side explores the dangers surrounding our first pioneers. Mystery of the Buttercup (abridged) is based on the riveting true story of the steamship that sits outside the town office buildings in Long Lake. Both are reenactments by local actors of real people portrayed with all the excitement, and fervor found in Huntley’s books.

Bob Milne In Concert

7:30pm. Ragtime and boogie-woogie pianist Bob Milne will be performing at the Long Lake Town Hall, sponsored by the Town of Long Lake. Bob Milne is considered to be the best ragtime/boogie-woogie pianist in the world. He was filmed and documented for future generations in 2004 during three days of interviews at the Library of Congress, and was declared a “National Treasure” at the conclusion.
