Best time of the year. Its the time that we wait for.  The time that we pine for.  The time that makes everything majestic.  Blue skies, lush greenery, warm lakes and rivers.  Activities galore.  Summer is simply a magical time to experience Long Lake & Raquette Lake.    It is a time for tradition. Like our 4th of July festivities celebrating our freedom. Summer is also a time to revel in the calming nature of the forest and trees.  Want more action? Events galore pack our schedule.  Recreation, hiking, biking, climbing, birding, swimming, boating.  Make Long Lake & Raquette Lake your family’s summer camp!

 

Calendar of Events

4th of July Games:
Everyone’s most favorite event. What don’t we do on 4th of July? Kids Games, Prizes for everyone and ice cream cones too. Egg Toss, Hula Hoop, Sack Races, Scavenger Hunt. It’s tradition and small town. Quaint and charming. The games begin at 10am still at the Long Lake ball field. The Long Lake Fire Department serves up traditional feast of Sausage and Peppers on the beach starting mid-afternoon.   Live Music on the LL Town Beach at 6:30pm. Fireworks at dusk.

For $5 purchase a 100% all cotton tee-shirt and get busy with this annual Raquette Lake tradition.  Fun for the whole family.  Get creative!  

Fundraiser Event in Raquette Lake

Raquette Lake Ladies Auxiliary Fund Raiser/Mudsliders Softball Team Fundraiser
Saturday, July 13, 2019

Join the Ladies Auxiliary at 2 p.m. – 6 p.m., July 13th at the Raquette Lake Village Green for a fundraiser with live music with Matt Grainger and Squirrel Murphy. Vendors will be on site including Mary Blanchard’s South Bay Jewelry, RC (David) Oster Painting, Pampered Chef, Life in the ADK, Pat Deyle’s Hand Carving, Local Artisan’s and the Knitting Ladies!  The Ladies Auxiliary will have water and hot dogs for donations and a raffle.  In addition to the live music, enjoy baked goods, a Chinese Raffle and a 50/50 to support the Ladies Auxiliary and Raquette Lake Mudsliders Softball Team. More to be announced.

Monday Night Soccer 7pm LL Ballfield

Monday Night Soccer | Long Lake Ballfield | Monday’s 6pm
Monday Night soccer is a summer tradition in Long Lake.  Join Coach Jim Piraino on the Long Lake Ball Field every Monday at 6:00pm to run drills and games.  Kids entering 7th grade and up are invited to participate.   It’s a great way to build skills, build on the fundamentals and gear up for the fall season. 

 

Kids Art Classes

Kids Art Classes with Cindy Black | Wednesday’s | 1pm – 3pm

Kids draw iconic Adirondack Wildlife.  All levels welcome to participate.  $5 per class.  All art materials are provided.  Walk in’s are welcome. 

Loons, bears, fish, otters and more will be featured in the summer of 2019

Teams and cars drive around Long Lake following a special set of cryptic instructions.  Whichever teams returns to homebase the closest to the official time without going over… wins!  Cash prizes.  

Past events have included – Singing to a stuffed bear, singing in Hoss’s, playing leapfrog on the Long Lake Town Beach and discovering mysterious secrets of Long Lake.   

 

US Waterski Team Show and Exhibition:

If you’re looking for something completely different, you just found it. Welcome to the exciting world of Show Skiing.

We’re the U.S. Water Ski Show Team−an all-volunteer, non-profit, family oriented organization. Our goal is to leverage the diverse talents of our membership to produce and perform the highest caliber water ski shows available anywhere in the Northeast.

The team has delighted tens of thousands of spectators over it’s proud 40 year history: but we’re not resting on past achievements, we’re focused squarely on the future. Training and development programs, learn-to-ski sessions and community involvement are all core to our team values.

So if you’re just looking for a great way to spend an enjoyable evening with family and friends, or you’d like to be part of the action, you’ve come to the right place. Just take a minute to explore the site and by all means “enjoy the show!”

Long Lake Paddling Olympics:
Friday, July 26, 2019. It’s fun, it’s cool and kooky! Boat races for all ages. Try your hand at wild, wet, fun aquatic navigational competition. Registration is free. Look for zany races including Bang and Go Back, Standing Paddling, Hand Paddling, Dress up Relay, Kayak Races, The Dipper, Back Paddling, Hurry Scurry and many more! Boats and Lifejackets provided. The Long Lake Lions Club sells a great BBQ and the lifeguards are on duty if you want to swim. Sponsored by the LL Association. Free registration 10:30am. Races start at 11am.

Durant Days
Celebrating the Birth of Great Camps Architecture in Raquette Lake, NY

This is a weekend of activities in celebration of William West Durant, the inventor of the Great Camps Style Architecture, which was started right here in Raquette Lake.  

Activities include:  Boat Cruise with Raquette Lake Navigation.Tours of Great Camps- exclusive, these properties are not always open to the public.  Call 315-354-5532 for reservations.  

Saturday tour St. Williams on Long Point, Silent Auction and Concert by Wide Variety at 2pm at St. Williams. Boat Transportation provided  from RL Town Dock

Boat Parade and Fireworks at Night

Heart of the Park Craft Fair:
Sunday, August 4. Always the 1st Sunday of August. All American handcrafted items sold by over 50 crafters. $1.00 Admission. Penelope the Clown. Author’s Night at Hoss’s Country Corner:
Always the second Tuesday in August at Hoss’s Country Corner. Adirondack Author’s converge under the big red tent to sign autography, showcase their work. Meet the Author’s.  Purchase your favorite books, get your souvenir shopping in with a personalized writer’s touch. The wide range of authors include fiction, comedy, Adirondack Lore and history, maps, paddling, hiking.  You name it, these author’s have lived it.  Meet them and find out what inspired them to put pen to paper.  

Enjoy live music and treats. A truly important event in Long Lake celebrating our authors. Come one come all.
