Market Basket Class

Learn the basics of basket making or refine your weaving skills at this one day class. The market style basket has a variety of uses; it is handy for storing kindling wood, blankets or towels, and can also be used outside to gather flowers or vegetables. The base is 10” by 15” and finished dimensions of the basket are 21” wide by 14” high by 10” across. No prior basket making experience is necessary. All tools and materials are provided by the instructor, and students will select colors to create their own unique basket. Cost of the class, including all materials, is $65 per student.

Market Basket Class

The class will be held on Sunday February 14, 2016 from 9am-4pm at the Long Lake Town Hall.

Born and raised in Long Lake, Shea Farrell Carr has been making baskets since 1992. She took ownership of Adirondack Basket Case from her mother, Patty Farrell, in 2009. In addition to basket making, she is also a high school history teacher, and lives in Slingerlands with her husband and two young children.

Adirondack Quilt Camp 2014 Long Lake, NY

Long Lake NY hosts the 5th Annual Adirondack Quilt Camp at Long Lake Central School, June 29th thru July 2nd, 2014. Over 20 classes and twelve teachers, this years classes boast handwork, beginning quilting, the ever popular Mystery Quilt and many more.

On Monday Night at the Long Lake Library, at 5pm, Lorrie Hosley will be hosting a trunk show with over 50 Antiques Quiltsll-quilts-poster-web 2014. This presentation is open to the public.

Log Cabin Fabrics will be at the Long Lake Central School gym, daily, and it is open to the public from 9am – 4pm.

Town Board Passes Budget for 2010

Last night a noticeably small audience gathered at the Long Lake Town Board Meeting and Continuation of the Public Hearing for Long Lake Water District #1.

The Town Board also approved the purchase of a new groomer for the 2010 snowmobile season, a front loader and approved to move forward on the State mandated SEQR to look into the purchase of property on Tarbell Hill Road from the Nature Conservancy to utilize for our water project and recreational land use.

Once discussion concluded the board voted unanimously to pass the 2010 Budget.

Long Lake continues to embrace growth as a tourist driven economy. The go ahead was made to include the new web design of # in the 2010 budget. Also included was support for two new shoulder season events, Adirondack Quilt Camp, a week of quilting workshops at the Long Lake Central School for an admission price of $230.00. Also planned will be “An Adirondack Affair” – a weekend with soap opera stars and special panel discussions about the state of soap operas today with directors, producers, writers and actors.

Also slated for 2010, the return of the Bed Races, Labor Day Weekend BBQ and cookout, continued partnership with Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts and more Teen Center & Beach Programming, focusing on the youth of the community.
