Long Lake Fourth of July Traditional Celebration

On Saturday, July 4th join the Town of Long Lake Parks and Recreation Department for their annual fourth of July celebration. Games for all ages starts at 10am at the Long Lake Ball Field. Classic favorites include a scavenger hunt for the youngest, balloon races, sack races, egg toss and a three-legged race. Children compete for over 1,000 prizes from the prize booth.

The Bed Races return and will be starting at a new time, 2pm from the Long Lake Town Bridge. Teams race each other to the finish line in speed and precision while competing for the title of Best in Show. Cash prizes will be awarded to the Best in Show, and Fastest, along with a trophy and bragging rights for the year. Entry fee is $10 per bed and pre-registration is required. Judges will receive a complimentary Feelin’ Long Lakey t-shirt for their efforts.

Peter-Michael Marino returns as the popular Long Lake MC. Peter is an award winning director, actor and comedian who has performed in the off-Broadway show STOMP, wrote and created “Desperately Seeking Susan, The Musical” premiering on the West End in London and has most recently returned from performing “Late with Lance,” his hilarious one-man show featured at the Orlando and Hollywood Fringe Festivals. Peter will be traveling to Scotland to perform his show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August. Do not miss his antics, hilarity and comedic repartee with the crowd at the Bed Races.

The Long Lake Fire Department will be serving a feast of sausage and peppers, hot dogs and hamburgers. Penelope the Clown will be face painting and creating balloon animals at the gazebo starting at 4pm. For dessert try the homemade and delicious Strawberry Shortcake and North Country Kettle Corn.

Finish out the evening dancing until dark with live music from Fade to Blues, a blues band from Lake Placid NY. Fade to Blues’ brand of original Indie Blues combines elements of classic rock, funk, fusion, country and soul. Look for guitar playing and vocals of BB Ready, bassist Dave Fischer and drummer, Long Lake legend, Jay Lamica to lay down the grooves to keep the crowd moving. They will rock the beach starting at 6:30pm.

At dusk do not miss the best fireworks in the Adirondacks. Fireworks can be seen from the beach, boat, or the Mt. Sabattis Pavilion. RondeauFest Scheduled to Rock Out August 16th

The Town of Long Lake announces the line up for the 3rd Annual RondeauFest Summer Music Event. The roster of acts include, Alex Smith and the Mountain Sound, Terry Chaiken, Fade to Blues, Dogtown Cadillac and the Sons of Octomom. These regional Adirondack musicians will showcase a variety of music from rock, blues, country, mountain surf and folk. The event will be held August 16th 4pm to 10pm. at the Mt. Sabattis Pavilion, entrance at 1100 Deerland Road, 6 Pavilion Way in Long Lake, NY.


Sons of Octomom is mountain surf music from the heart of the Adirondacks. Hailing from Newcomb, NY, Father-Son duo, Eric Peter on lead guitar and vocals with Tyler Peter on drums. Eric Peter was discovered at age 17 by a talent agent working with Nashville recording artist Mirinda (now known as Mirinda James). In 1987 Eric was nominated for male vocalist of the year by the Northeast Country Music Association. Eric has played with the Hagar Brothers from Hee-Haw, Ray Peterson and Troy Shondell of the Shondells. Over the years Eric has played with Castle, White Horse, Uncle Wiggly and the Nightcrawlers and Live Bait. Most recently, Eric has been performing throughout upstate New York as a solo artist, and playing together with Rocky and the Mooseknuckles, the Dark Marbles and The Sons of Octomom. Tyler Peter is the “Typhoon” drummer for Sons of Octomom. Tyler sings and plays guitar, xylophone, and piano.


Jennifer Raymond, formerly of Decadence, is the lead singer and band leader of Dogtown Cadillac. Jennifer calls Schroon Lake her hometown and country music her first love. Dogtown Cadillac features Tim Howe, Dickie Ogden and Archie Anderson from the South Glens Falls, and Albany area. At RondeauFest Dogtown Cadillac will perform mostly originals written by Raymond. Jennifer has performed and shared the stage with Shooter Jennings, Drew Baldridge and has opened for Chase Rice. Jennifer can be heard on Decadence’s album, Love Loud which has received local, national and international airplay and she will be a featured vocalist on the upcoming album from Last Daze produced by Shooter Jennings.


Fade to Blues features Brian Ready, Andrew Lynch, Dave Fisher, Skip Smaldone and Long Lake native Jay Lamica. Fade to Blues promises original, house-rocking blues in the tradition of the great Texas blues men Stevie Ray, Albert Collins, Albert King, T Bone Walker, and Johnny Winter. This summer the band has performed in Lake Placid, Wanakena, Tupper Lake, and at the I Love BBQ Festival in Lake Placid. They are looking to release a CD entitled “Born with the Blues” very soon.


Alex Smith and the Mountain Sound will be performing at RondeauFest in 2014. This summer Smith has been touring the country performing in Washington DC, Chicago, Fort Collins, CO, and Asheville, NC. Alex recently signed with Wepecket Island Records for his third album, Hamilton County.

Terry Chaiken, is a solo female artist who has been hosting Open Mic Night at the Adirondack Hotel since 2013. Terry has mastered her own unique sound as a solo female artist and is a popular favorite in Long Lake.
Local Long Lake Food Vendors will be on site selling and serving dinner. Look for the Cybercreek Café and The Cellar Restaurant and Pub to serve up a variety of festival favorites including pulled pork to sausage and peppers and more.

Tickets for the show are $10 and kids 18 and under are free. Fun activities at the event include tie-dying shirts, corn hole, ladder ball and more. All ticket sales are cash, sorry no credit cards. No glass bottles are permitted on site. This event will happen rain or shine. The Long Lake Little Bus will be running shuttle service starting at 3:45pm until the show is over.
