Long Lake Fall Fire & Harvest Festival

The Town of Long Lake announces the Fall Fire and Harvest Festival on October 11, 2014 at the Long Lake Town Hall, and lawn of Long Lake Central School, located at 1204 Main Street Long Lake, NY running from 10am to 5pm.

This unique event combines the traditional Harvest Craft Fair, a festive Kids Carnival with games, prizes, obstacle course, bounce house, a live art installation with Portraits in the Wilderness artist Matt Burnett and an incredible show by LightEXPO with fire breathing, fire eating and fire rings.

Visitors to the festival and craft fair start Christmas shopping early at the Town Hall from 10am—4pm. Hand made goods from local vendors will be available including: herbal spice mixes, homemade chip and dip bowls, bread and soup mixes, soy candles, with Adirondack and Home scents, handcrafted glass, balsam pillows, table runners, wooden bowls, fish and duck decoys, mixed media art, jewelry and dyed clothing and more.

Starting at noon on the Long Lake Central School Lawn kids will enjoy a free carnival. Kids earn prize tickets playing games including pumpkin bowling, pumpkin pop, milk bottle baseball, ladder toss and many more. The prize booth will have a variety items such as bracelets, foam pop guns, flower tiaras and more. Activities for adults and kids alike will include games such as ladder ball, corn hole, and horseshoes.

Look for a unique obstacle course, an all-ages seed spitting contest and a scarecrow contest. Contestants can build their scarecrow ahead of time or at the festival with supplied materials. Different prize categories including ‘funniest,’ ‘scariest,’ ‘best in show,’ will be judged by the public with many chances to win!

Matt Burnett, artist, will be on site to create a public work of art tying into the Portraits in the Wilderness Installation. Matt’s large scale paintings are in several locations in Long Lake including the big red barn on Deerland Road, Shaw Pond, Blarneystone Property and along Burns Road Wall on NYS Route 30. The paintings reflect life in and around Long Lake through history up to today. Matt invites members of the public to join him at the Long Lake Town Hall Lawn where he will be creating another work to complete the 2014 Portraits in the Wilderness Project. This event is made possible with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Regrant Program. The Decentralization Program is administered by the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts.

LightEXPO will be showcasing human fire stunts such as fire breathing, fire eating, and fire rings. Three – 15 minute shows will be performed at 3:30pm and 4:15pm with their final show at 5:00 to send off the festival goers.

Fall can be an unpredictable time of year, sometimes cold, sometimes warm. We’re prepared for both. On a cool October day warm up by the large fire pit or grab some warm drinks and food from our food and beverage vendors. If it’s rainy we will have as many of the activities as possible under a large tent.
