Fishing Derby and Open House in Long Lake NY

Long Lake Annual Bass and Pike Opening Day Derby will be on Saturday, June 17th with launch from the Long Lake Town Beach, located at 1258 Main Street.  Registration is held from 6am – 6:30am and is $25 per person. Cash prizes are awarded for fish caught in Long Lake including Pike, Largemouth & Small mouth Bass.  Weigh in is 3pm – 3:30pm at the Long Lake Town Beach.

Fishing Licenses, equipment & bait available at Hoss’s Country Corner

Equipment also available at the ADK Trading Post. 

Also on June 17th from 9am – 6pm the Long Lake Fish & Game Club will be hosting an Open House at 8196 Newcomb Rd.  Food, live music and shooting events will be on the docket. All are welcome to attend and check out the expanding facilities.  

A great day of recreation and sporting events in Long Lake, NY in the heart of the Adirondacks.

Mud Pond

Locals love spring fishing. It’s quiet, the working summer season hasn’t zapped every extra minute of free time. It’s still early yet and while the black flies are out, they are still in their dumb, confused stage, so not quite the venomous monsters expected to hit in a few days. So it’s time to get out and hit the secret fishing spots around the area. With so many abundant waterways to explore there’s plenty.

Reports and tidbits from facebook posts include “Brookies are hot. Down deep in the river eddies.”

“I saw a 12 pounder pulled out”

“Love the sunsets at my secret fishing spot.”

It’s a great time of year, and time to get out. Whether you fish from the shoreline or a boat, it’s the best time to get out and relax.

Adult/Kid Team Fishing Derby Long Lake

On March 1st, 2014 join the Long Lake Fish and Game Club for the Adult / Child Team Fishing Derby Event. Teams of adults and child fish any of the waters around Long Lake for prizes. Sponsored by the Fish and Game Club. Call 518-624.2145 for more information.

Registration 8:30am – 9am and weigh in 3pm at the LL Town Hall Nutrition Site.
1204 Main Street, Long Lake, NY
Pizza served at the weigh in.
Fish for Pike, Trout, Perch, Landlocked Salmon.
Fish Lake Eaton, South Pond or Long Lake
No entry fee.
Kids Ages 15- Under with an adult can participate

Usually members of the Fish & Game Club will set up a community fishing hole for folks who don’t have all the necessary equipment to drill a good hole. Check in at registration to find out where to go. Normally they will to set up a walkable spot near the Causeway/spillway with parking available at the Long Lake Town Beach. Check with an official. Other available access to the lake includes the State Boat Launch at the end of Olivet Road. Live Bait is available at the Adk Trading Post and Hoss’s Country Corner.

Prize money is presented to the first three largest fish in three categories to the adult/child team which catches them. The object is for the child to actually do the fishing with the encouragement and instructions from the adults. While not everyone has this kind of luck, the children often surprise everyone with big catch!
