While the temps may be dipping and the leaves may be falling there is still plenty to enjoy on a drive through our Adirondack towns. Here are some options, some nearby, some requiring a drive. Invite a friend, take your family and get out and enjoy the offerings.

Stay inside and complain or come on over to Raquette Lake and experience a Snowflake Excursion aboard the WW Durant. Dining room is heated and enclosed so no worries about freezing to death! You haven’t lived until you’ve been out on Raquette Lake with snow in the air and catching flakes on your tongue!

Hike Around Moss Lake with Kat Forsell. Leaving 11am at the Moss Lake Trail Head at 11am. Trail Head located on Big Moose Road. Our Raquette Lake Winter Events coordinator is back on the job! Kat always comes up with great event plans. Come out and get her started with a big turnout! . Everyone welcome to participate. Get out in the refreshing Autumn air, where the scents and smells of the falling foliage transport you into a certain kind of harvest season bliss.

Acoustic Jam Session
Sunday, October 18, Adirondack Hotel
For your entertainment on Sunday, October 18th there will be a traditional music jam session featuring acoustic instruments at the Adirondack Hotel from 2pm – 4pm. Musicians of all levels are invited to come and join in and everyone is encouraged to come and listen and possibly join in the singing. Instruments typically used are guitar, fiddle, culcimer, mandolin, accordion, concertina, banjo, spoons and bass. The setting is very intimate and there will be no amplification. Music featured will be Country, Old Time, Celtic, Folk Bluegrass or anything else. For more info email

Art Exhibition
On Saturday the Long Lake Library will be open until 3pm. Stop by to see the current exhibit by Melissa Burnett entitled “A Mostly Adirondack Experience” Melissa’s work celebrates the natural beauty and landscapes of the Adirondacks. Stop by the foyer to enjoy the Long Lake mural created by local artists featuring the landscape of the Seward Mountains and vignette portraits showcasing life and landscapes of Long Lake. Look up to embrace Long Lake’s cloud cover, it’s own Sistine Chapel.
