The Long Lake Parks and Recreation Department offers a robust calendar of youth events in 2016. The Youth Center and programming has been in place since 2010 and offers a variety of activities open to property owners, residents and visitors.
The Long Lake Youth Center is currently open Wednesday evenings at the Mt. Sabattis Geiger Arena at 6 Pavilion Way at the intersection of South Hill Road and Deerland Road in Long Lake, NY. Maria Black currently a junior at Long Lake Central School, coordinates special events for the youth center.
Every Wednesday, 1pm – 3pm – Kids Painting Class with Cindy Black. Meet at the Mt. Sabattis Pavilion. Small materials fee.
August 2nd: Trailblazers Rafting Trip. Pre-registration required. 518-624-3077. Max 10.
August 3rd: Swimming Races 10am at the Long Lake Town Beach. First Place winners win free ticket to Water Safari
August 3rd, 7pm – 9pm. Louisa Wright of Incapahco Art Song Studio will be hosting a workshop at the Geiger Arena. All supplies and materials will be provided. Registration required in advance. A minimum of three students must sign up for the class to take place. This is sponsored by The Town of Long Lake. Call 518-624-3077 to register. Maximum of 15 for class.
August 4th: Group Trip to Water Safari in Old Forge. The Long Lake Little Bus holds 18. Participants not taking the bus must meet the group at Water Safari at allotted time to be eligible for the Group Discount. Call 518-624-3077 to confirm reservation and participation.
August 8th: Raquette River Outfitters will be hosting a special free Stand Up Paddle Boarding Class with a max of ten participants. Pre-registration is required. Boards, and lifejackets will be provided. Children learn nuts and bolts of paddle boarding and be responsible for their gear. This is always a popular event and please note the max is 10. August 9th: Trailblazers Hiking Trip. Long Lake residents and students ages 8 and up hike to Cascade Pond Loop. Sign up at 518-624-3077.
August 10th: Utica Zoomobile, 10am Raquette Lake Library, Noon Mt. Sabattis Pavilion. Free for families and children in Long Lake and Raquette Lake. Sorry, no camp groups. 518-624-3077
Wednesday, August 10th Farewell Bash at the Geiger Arena from 7pm-9pm with Bonfire, Games, Marshmallow roasting and more.
August 11th: Float Night, 5pm-7pm. Long Lake Town Beach. Cardboard Box Race Competition.
Children under 8 must have a grown up or designated care-giver to attend youth programming.
